BADUNG, ULTIMOPARADISO.COM– More than 1,770 participants gathered at Sulangai Tourism Village, located in Petang District, Badung, Bali, on Sunday, June 22, 2025, for the IHGMA Run 2025, a running event organized by the Indonesian Hotel General Manager Association (IHGMA) Bali.

This event marked the first time a large-scale run was held in Sulangai, and it received an enthusiastic response from various groups, including IHGMA members, hospitality and tourism professionals, academics, and local communities.

Chairman of IHGMA Bali, Komang Artana, stated that all preparations had been completed and the organizers were ready to hold the event. “We hope for good weather and that everything runs smoothly,” he said.

IHGMA Run 2025 featured three distance categories: 3K, 5K, and 10K, with a total prize pool of IDR 22 million. Beyond being a sporting event, the run promoted the concept of sustainable sport tourism, while encouraging community empowerment and environmental awareness.

Highlighting Sulangai’s Ecotourism Potential

The selection of Sulangai Tourism Village as the host location was a strategic move to promote this emerging destination, which officially received its tourism village designation in December 2024. Sulangai is known for its unique combination of natural beauty, cultural richness, and conservation education.

Among the village’s key attractions are:

  • Farming Tours: Visitors can take part in traditional shallot farming, harvesting, and cooking classes using local produce.

  • Madu Kele Production: A locally made, natural honey product that serves as a unique souvenir.

  • Goa Gong Waterfall: A scenic 10–15 meter-high waterfall with easy access and facilities, famous for the gong-like sound it produces on certain days.

  • Subak Batulantang: A trekking route following Bali’s traditional irrigation system.

  • Taman Bumi Banten & Beji Toya: Sacred sites for purification and spiritual reflection.

  • Traditional Temples: Including Pura Puseh, Desa, Dalem, Kancing Gumi, and Puncak Tedung, which reflect Bali’s spiritual structure and heritage.

In addition, Sulangai is being developed as a conservation education center through the PusdiktaKon program, which promotes vegetation planting, rainwater harvesting, and community-based disaster preparedness.

Promoting Sustainable Sport Tourism

IHGMA Run 2025 was not only a sporting event but also a step forward in promoting sustainable sport tourism in Bali, particularly in the northern part of Badung. The collaboration between tourism industry players and local communities proved vital in delivering a socially and environmentally impactful event.

Sulangai Village is accessible in about 1–1.5 hours from downtown Denpasar, with a comfortable route suitable for all ages.

IHGMA Run 2025 demonstrates that tourism villages can be the perfect stage for delivering healthy, educational, and community-based tourism experiences. Sport tourism is not just a trend—it’s a meaningful solution for the future of Bali’s sustainable tourism.***
