BALI, ULTIMOPARADISO.COM — The sacred Bayan tree came to life under the stars last week during “Bayan Tree Night Journey”, a captivating multimedia experience presented by Suka Studio. Held beneath the sprawling 700-year-old tree, the event drew audiences into a transformative evening of light, sound, and storytelling—bringing Balinese spiritual traditions into harmony with modern technology.
Through a carefully orchestrated audiovisual composition, the majestic 25-meter-tall Bayan tree became both stage and storyteller. Visitors described the experience as deeply moving, with many saying they felt as if the tree itself was whispering ancient wisdom directly to them. Each guest encountered a slightly different version of the journey, adding to the mystical atmosphere of the event.
“We wanted to create a space where people could genuinely connect—to nature, to culture, and to themselves,” said the Suka Studio creative team. “It was humbling to witness the reverence and emotional response from the audience. The tree became not just a symbol, but a voice of timeless Balinese wisdom.”
CONTINUING A LEGACY OF CULTURAL EXPLORATION
“Bayan Tree Night Journey” is the latest installment in Suka Studio’s growing portfolio of immersive art installations that honor and reimagine Bali’s cultural landscape:
- Umbra Nuanu Nights transformed a shipping container into a dreamlike space of green lasers and kinetic sculpture.
- Live as Art used AI, holographic mesh, and multicultural music to create an open-air living canvas in Nuanu.
- Suara Festival 2023 & 2024 featured stunning projection-mapped stage designs that integrated seamlessly with the natural environment, including the iconic Kriya stage, later featured on the cover of Vogue Singapore.
- Bringing Light to Kutri Village highlighted the village’s architecture through light as a storytelling medium.
- The Living Tree in Nusa Dua turned another ancient tree into a focal point for traditional Kecak dance, using 64 LED lights.
- The Crystal at Luna Nuanu invited guests to interact with a one-ton natural quartz crystal, transmitting their wishes into the universe through a responsive light-and-sound interface.
A NIGHT TO REMEMBER
Held over multiple evenings, “Bayan Tree Night Journey” welcomed both locals and visitors into a meditative, awe-inspiring space of connection and reflection. Special extended performances allowed deeper immersion, while daily sessions remained accessible to a broad audience.
For those who missed the event, Suka Studio has hinted at future performances and new installations that will continue to explore Bali’s spiritual and natural heritage through immersive media.
