SANUR, ULTIMOPARADISO.COM  — President Prabowo Subianto underscored the vital role of the state in ensuring access to healthcare for all Indonesians, positioning healthcare as a key pillar for equitable welfare distribution. The statement was delivered during the inauguration of the Sanur Special Economic Zone (SEZ) and Bali International Hospital (BIH) in Denpasar, Bali, on Wednesday, June 25, 2025.

“The core duty of a nation is to protect its people in every aspect — especially their welfare and quality of life. That means the state must guarantee protection from hunger and poverty. Simultaneously, or even before that, one essential step toward lifting people out of poverty is improving their quality of life, primarily through access to healthcare,” President Prabowo stated in his address.

The President emphasized that healthcare and education are crucial instruments in achieving social justice. The Sanur SEZ, he noted, plays a pivotal role in promoting national self-reliance and development.

“Education and healthcare are vehicles for equal opportunity and social upliftment. Therefore, in our efforts to build a self-reliant nation, the establishment of this healthcare-focused SEZ is a highly significant step,” he said.

President Prabowo also paid tribute to the contributions of past national leaders in laying the foundation for Indonesia’s healthcare system.
“We must recognize and honor all the presidents before us who pioneered our national healthcare system. From the first to the most recent, each has played a valuable role in building our public health services,” he said.

During the event, President Prabowo also shared his impressions after visiting two healthcare facilities in Bali — Ngoerah Sun Wellness and Aesthetic Center and Bali International Hospital. He expressed admiration for the advanced and modern facilities, while reaffirming the importance of ensuring access to such high-quality services for all Indonesians, regardless of socioeconomic status.

“With our national health insurance system — which we must continue to strengthen — access to care should not be limited to the elite. Healthcare services, supported when necessary by insurance and government subsidies, must be made accessible to everyone, including those with limited financial means,” he stressed.

Through the development of the Sanur SEZ, Indonesia is not only building modern health infrastructure but also reinforcing its commitment to providing inclusive, high-quality healthcare services for all its citizens.***
