First Charter Flight from Shenzhen China Lands in Bali

BALI – The Head of the Immigration Office Class I Special for TPI Ngurah Rai Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights Bali was present accompanying the Governor, Deputy Governor of Bali regarding the welcoming activities of the first charter flight from Shenzhen China (China) to Denpasar via I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, Tuban, Kuta , Badung, Bali, Sunday (22/01/2023).

This activity was also attended by Deputy for Marketing of the Indonesian Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, Director for Asia Pacific Marketing, Head of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy Communication Bureau, Head of the Bali Provincial Tourism Office, Consulate General of the PRC (People’s Republic of China) in Bali, General Manager of PT. Persero Angkasa Pura I, Plh. Head of Regional IV Airport Authority Office, Head of Port Health Office, Head of Representative of Bank Indonesia, Director of Lion Air, Chair of Bali Tourism Board, Deputy Chair of ASITA Bali, and Director of Indonesia Tourism Confucius Institute (TCI) University Udayana.

The plane landed at 10.40 WITA carrying 210 passengers (191 adults, 17 children, 2 infants) using Lion Air flight number JT2648.

The reception was carried out in front of Gate 1 of the International Arrival Terminal at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport by placing flowers on the passengers by the Governor and Deputy Governor of Bali as well as the Deputy for Marketing and Leaders of the relevant Ministries/Agencies.

Governor of Bali Wayan Koster explained that the arrival of tourists from China was an extraordinary achievement.

“On November 16, 2022 when sending off the President of China at the G20 activity, he was conveyed to be willing to open and grant permission for Chinese tourists to visit Bali. In 2019, China was ranked 2nd in international arrivals to Bali, and in the previous year it was in the top position for foreign tourist arrivals to Bali. It is hoped that with today’s momentum Bali can reach the target of 4.5 million foreign tourist arrivals to Bali,” Governor Koster explained.

General Manager of Angkasa Pura, Handy Heryudhitiawan conveyed that plane flights from China are indeed awaiting their arrival to Bali, hopefully in the future China will become the largest number of passengers returning to the Island of the Gods, Bali.

The Deputy for Marketing of the Indonesian Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, Made Ayu Marthini, expressed her gratitude for welcoming the passengers of the first charter flight from China. The target for 2023 passengers from China will be 280,000 passengers but it is likely to exceed this target.

The Chinese Consulate General expressed his gratitude for the welcoming event and this shows the government’s full efforts and the great hopes of the Balinese people for the arrival of Chinese tourists to Bali. January 20, 2023 the Chinese government announced the opening of the border, and today’s inaugural flight to Bali is a pilot trip for the Chinese government.

The Chinese government will deepen cooperation in the tourism sector and support the Bali government to grow Bali’s economy. He represented the Chinese Government wishing a happy Chinese New Year 2023.

Head of Kanim Ngurah Rai Sugito said that all charter flight passengers from Shenzhen China to Denpasar were given entry permits with a Visit Visa on Arrival (VKSK) or Visa on Arrival (VoA). Through the arrival of this charter flight and the increasing number of tourists visiting Bali, it is hoped that this will help Bali’s economy to recover soon.

“Currently the Ngurah Rai Immigration Office is preparing 36 additional devices to be used in the immigration inspection process at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport. These devices will be prioritized in the arrival area to anticipate a surge in arriving passengers,” concluded Sugito. ***igo
