JOGYAKARTA  – Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy/Tourism and Creative Economy Agency holds a Travel Exchange (TRAVEX), a business forum for tourism business actors between ASEAN countries.

Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy/Head of Tourism and Creative Economy Agency, Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, in a statement on Wednesday (1/2/2023), said that TRAVEX is one of the main agendas of the 2023 ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF) held on February 3-5, 2023, at Jogja Expo Center (JEC).

“So, TRAVEX is a tourism exchange that brings together tourism business actors as buyers and sellers,” according to Minister Sandiaga.

A number of programs in TRAVEX become crucial agendas for the tourism industry and the public during ATF 2023. Among others, B2B exhibition and seller session consisting of ASEAN NTOs, ASEAN Tourism Industries, Travel and Tourism Hospitality Industries, hotels & accommodation industries, TA/TO, and MICE actors.

There is also a B2C session, which will become a place for direct transactions between businesses and customers through the Indonesian Tourism Exhibition, Culinary Festival, and Creative Economy MSME Exhibition. This B2C session is a historical record for being the first in ATF. There is also a free shipping promo program to stimulate sales, in which a free shipment for sending products in this exhibition to all ASEAN countries.

However, there is something different in ATF this year. It features an art exhibition. A showcase of paintings and umbrellas made by Indonesian artists to international audiences. An art exhibition in ATF, or what we call: ArTF.

TRAVEX brings together 157 sellers and 136 buyers. The buyers are from 29 countries,
including 9 ASEAN countries, 6 Asian countries, 9 European countries, 5 Middle Eastern
countries, 1 North America, and Australia.

“This TRAVEX is expected to feature and promote tourism destinations, as well as the diversity of MSME industries and their creative economy, because they deserve to be showcased at such precious momentum especially since we have numerous destinations, as well as MSME and creative economy products from all over the country,” he added.

Furthermore, Minister Sandiaga said that the theme carried in this ATF is “ASEAN: A Journey to Wonderful Destinations”.

The theme represents the main hope of the tourism sector in developing major regional and international tourism destinations, as well as strengthening the position of ASEAN as an accelerator of economic growth and job creation.

The ATF 2023 also marks the second time Yogyakarta hosting the ATF after previously
hosting it in 2002.

“The success of ATF will be the key to developing tourism in ASEAN countries in the future.
It is also a strategic momentum for Indonesia to attract more foreign tourists. So, we can
achieve the target of 7.4 million visits in 2023,” he said.***igo
