Mother Turtle Loves Hotel Nikko Bali’s Beach and Lay Her Eggs for the Third Times

NUSA DUA, ULTIMOPARADISO – On a fine evening, 7 June 2023, one of our security staff on duty at night saw some baby turtles come out from the sand on the beach right in front of Hotel Nikko Bali Benoa Beach. Without further due, he grabbed a big blue basket to fill it with ocean water and a little bit of sand and keep those baby turtles inside it to ensure they are safe from the predators. Immediately he reported to the hotel management what had just been discovered.

“Olive ridley or commonly known as a gray turtle is the type that has been found and released. Turtles have a strong instinct to lay their eggs in the same area, therefore, we are so honored that the mother turtle revisited the beach in front of our hotel for the third time since 2018. Big appreciation to our team who have the initiative to save and keep the baby turtles until we release them back into the ocean. This is one of the actions of concern for environmental preservation that must continue to be grown in every individual,” said Takashi Hoshino, General Manager of Hotel Nikko Bali Benoa Beach.

He added, “We believe this is nature’s support for the plan and implementation of nature conservation that we have programmed so that the goals and efforts to maintain, protect, and restore the environment can be realized. We collaborated and have a long-term commitment to assist and support Bali Natural Resources and Conservation Center (Bali BKSDA) in conserving as well as protecting sea turtles from extinction.”

The baby turtle release was successfully carried out and it started with a traditional Balinese ceremony, witnessed and released by the in-house guests and the local community on 9 June 2023.

The sustainability actions that the hotel has programmed will strive to continue to be carried out to save the environment.
