BALI, ULTIMOPARADISO – Muda is a modern and vibrant restaurant, serving up Asian inspired food and crafted cocktails, best shared with friends. Influenced by a number of east and southeast asian cuisines, Muda merges Asian flavours with western tastes and intriguing ingredient pairings.

With an acclaimed chef at the helm and an epic Asian-inspired menu, Canggu’s newest restaurant is promising to bring diners a taste of the exotic in the heart of Batu Bolong area.

Muda features a menu created by Chef Robby Tan. Robby, who has previously cooked at distinguished establishments such as Kilo -Jakarta, Bikini, Aperitif and La Tabla says he aims to combine modern and traditional Asian techniques and ingredients, with a strong focus on Bali produce and sustainability.

“Every dish we create is like a passport to Asia, taking you on a culinary journey to Japan, China, and SouthEast Asia. With a fusion of global and local ingredients, we make sure each plate tells a story, from the meticulous preparation to the finesse of presentation” said Robby.

Inspiration for the menu comes from across east and southeast Asia, including: Japan, China, Korea, Thailand and Vietnam, the menu ranges from street snacks to mains cooked using the traditional art of the Asian grill. Muda’s menu is Asian inspired, but merges these bold and bright flavours with European ingredients. The menu consists of small and large plates, designed for sharing and enjoying together. Muda’s signature ‘feed me’ menu is a 6 or 7 course meal that takes guests on a journey through the best of Muda’s menu with bold and diverse flavours that unexpectedly connect through the experience.

Among the offerings are cured red snapper sashimi with nam jim, kaffir and coconut gel; Cantonese steamed fish and Chinese olive fried rice with lap cheong & prawn; and coffee-rubbed black Angus picanha, tare jus, gochujang and fresh kimchi. The final destination is a selection from Muda’s dessert menu. Crafted by Muda’s pastry chef, it is always a refreshing and balanced way to end the evening.

The cocktail list is designed to invoke exotic holidays while drinkers can also sample a bespoke Muda’s signature cocktails, primarily inspired by Japanese flavours and combining these with spirits and liqueurs from Europe created by Muda’s team of mixologists. Muda’s cocktail bar is the centerpiece of the joglo area, lighting up the venue with a backlit onyx bottle display and green marble top. The signature cocktail menu is refined, subtly complex and well balanced, but also simple and unpretentious. While the cocktail menu is primarily inspired by Japanese and western flavours, it also incorporates local Balinese spirits and liqueurs. Muda’s drinks menu also includes signature sharing cocktails and non-alcoholic cocktails.

Designed by Studio Isla, the venue itself features dramatic warm & earthy tone finishes with marbles, leather and decorative Asian-motif textiles. Muda is a two story venue with seating capacity of 100 and is located on the now bustling Jl. Munduk in Canggu, around 600m from the beach at Batu Bolong.
