Sustainable Materials for Christmas Decorations  at Hotel Nikko Bali

by Editor Bali

NUSA DUA, ULTIMOPARADISO.COM  – Christmas and New Year’s Eve all typically take place in December. This is the perfect moment to spend a little extra time with your loved ones. Whilst, festive season decoration has been installed at homes, office buildings, shopping malls, and hotels.

Hotel Nikko Bali Benoa Beach has also decorated its lobby with a Christmas tree made from used newspapers. “Getting the newspaper every day is great. Reading it while you are having breakfast is even better. And what are you gonna do after you read it? Throw it in your trash bin?  But we prefer to recycle and reuse it by creating this beautiful Christmas tree. It doesn’t take a magician to make this decoration while saving the Planet Earth we are living in. Next to the Christmas tree is not a snowman, but we are happy to call it “Linen Man” because it is made from out-of-order linen, which means, we reuse them to accompany the Christmas tree.” Said Takashi Hoshino, General Manager at Hotel Nikko Bali Benoa Beach. He added, “The material lifecycle has a crucial aspect in its sustainability. From sourcing, production, and disposal. For this reason, as wise as possible we are choosing and using environmentally friendly materials and minimizing harm to the planet we are living in. Furthermore, it can also reduce carbon emissions associated with the production and transportation of building materials, thereby reducing the overall carbon footprint of the building. This is part of our commitment to support the sustainability of our environment by using the used newspaper and linen as decoration and celebrating Christmas and New Year. We make small actions to change a better future!”

“The frame itself is made of recycled steel hollow with a height of 2.5 meters and 1.3 diameter. The snowy decoration is surrounded by a fence made from recycled camphor wood. Plus, installing the right lights in the decoration makes it Instagrammable and perfect as a selfie spot.” Said I Gusti Ngurah Ketut Sukaarta, Chief Engineering at Hotel Nikko Bali Benoa Beach.
