DENPASAR – Bali Governor Wayan Koster emphasized that the current development of Bali tourism is conceptual, so that it can progress and develop. He expressed this when opening the 2022 International Tourism Leaders Summit (ITLS) at the Denpasar Art Center, Monday, September 26/2022.

“Tourism is something very concrete. Bali tourism is formed fundamentally, has character and is monumental,” said Governor Koster.

According to him, a partial way of thinking will reduce the quality of Bali’s tourism and reduce competitiveness. The center of Bali tourism is culture.

“This should be a basic lecture for tourism actors in Bali. Therefore, one by one I got up. Bali tourism is supported by uniqueness, cultural excellence and natural beauty. Bali must also have new tourism destinations and attractions. Don’t do that again, that’s it again, people are bored, since the 30s since tourism grew in Bali, I think big changes have to be made,” he added.

Governor Koster added, a clean natural ecosystem is also a pillar that must be taken seriously by tourism actors on the Island of the Gods. This potential is further supported by connected and integrated land, sea and air infrastructure through adequate transportation.

“It must have quality human resources, be competitive, then have competitive governance and side with local Balinese resources,” he explained.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Committee for the 2022 International Tourism Leaders Summit, Komang Artana, said that the 2-day event was held in a hybrid manner.

There were 400 participants who attended offline and more than 1,000 participants attended online. The talkshow agenda presented 24 speakers from international, national, and local experts.

“Held on a hybrid basis to provide broad opportunities for the audience to be able to discuss and participate in this ITLS event,” concluded Artana. ***go
